The American Heritage Band, of Moore County, North Carolina,  preserves and plays a wide range of music and musical styles that have laid the foundations of popular music as we know it today. Our American musical heritage was established in the 19th and early 20th centuries from many cultures and ethnic backgrounds. This time was an era of canal building and then railroad building, industrialization, the gay nineties, and the 1904 World's Fair in St. Louis. The people worked hard, but had fun. Just imagine Meredith Wilson's small town America from “The Music Man”. They sang, they danced and they celebrated life.

Our repertoire draws on Irish, English, Scotch, Germanic, Latin and African-American roots. The musical styles are polkas, Irish jigs and reels, spirituals, hymns, dixieland, oom-pahs, ballads, drinking songs, folk songs, show tunes and marches. Background notes and corny jokes add variety and spice to our programs.

The American Heritage Band consists of two clarinets, trumpet/flute, trombone, tuba, banjo and drums. This instrumentation is ideally suited to the music of the period and the wide range of styles we play. Our band members are:
Larry McCune - clarinet plus leader and arranger
     Bob Kucinski - clarinet
David Wall - trumpet and flute
     Dick Burke - trombone
     Bob Fewkes - tuba
     Ray Pardue - banjo
     Dave Byles - drums

The American Heritage Band is available for one to one-and-a-half hour programs in any of the following formats:
     St. Patrick's Day Celebrations
     Oktober Fest or Bavarian Festivals
     American Heritage or Patriotic Festivals
Any old celebration or just plain fun
